QLogic FastLinQ NIC intermittently drops multicast traffic or LACP bond goes down

Issue

  • While using Qlogic adapter multicast traffic is intermittently dropped when multicast groups is around 64.
  • QLogic FastLinQ NIC (qed or qede driver) bond in Mode 4 (LACP) loses link and slave state goes "churned" in /proc/net/bonding/bondX

Environment

  • Red Hat Enterprise Linux 7.8 and earlier (anything before kernel-3.10.0-1160.el7)
  • QLogic/Marvell FastLinQ network interface (qed or qede driver)
  • Multicast traffic, or bonding Mode 4 (LACP) or possibly teaming with lacp runner
