ssh X11 forwarding does not work from an XDMCP session on Red Hat Enterprise Linux 6

Issue

  • When connected to Red Hat Enterprise Linux 6 via XDMCP, ssh -X or ssh -Y do not work and remote X11 applications fail to connect to the display with the following error:

    Xlib: connection to "localhost:10.0" refused by server
Xlib: Invalid MIT-MAGIC-COOKIE-1 key
xrdb: Can't open display "localhost:10.0"

  • Red Hat Enterprise Linux 6
  • Remote XDMCP connection
