Is it supported to upgrade OpenShift to a non-contiguous Y version?

Is it supported to upgrade a cluster from version x.y.z to x.y+2.z?

Let's say that there is a cluster whose version is 4.5.z (minor z version is not relevant in this case). Is it supported to upgrade it to 4.7.z?

There are alternative ways to do this, but it is an unsupported action and it can cause severe consequences on a cluster. It will probably become unusable and reverting the situation may not be possible.
