iSCSI Failures seen continously on a RHEL 4 VMWare guest

Issue

  • While attempting to write a 10GB file to an ext3 formatted iSCSI device we are getting a lot of errors like this:

    iscsi-sfnet:host2: ping timeout of 5 secs expired, last rx 1170329, last ping 1175329, now 1180329
iscsi-sfnet:host2: Session dropped
iscsi-sfnet:host2: Failing command cdb 0x2a task 273 with return code = 0x20000
iscsi-sfnet:host2: Failing command cdb 0x2a task 275 with return code = 0x20000
iscsi-sfnet:host2: Failing command cdb 0x2a task 276 with return code = 0x20000
iscsi-sfnet:host2: Failing command cdb 0x2a task 277 with return code = 0x20000
iscsi-sfnet:host2: Failing command cdb 0x2a task 278 with return code = 0x20000
iscsi-sfnet:host2: Failing command cdb 0x2a task 280 with return code = 0x20000
iscsi-sfnet:host2: Failing command cdb 0x2a task 281 with return code = 0x20000
iscsi-sfnet:host2: Failing command cdb 0x2a task 282 with return code = 0x20000
iscsi-sfnet:host2: Failing command cdb 0x2a task 284 with return code = 0x20000
