Troubleshooting podman rootless uid/gid mapping

Issue

• Pulling images in podman failed with one of the below errors.

  • Error#1

  Error: error pulling image "quay.io/xxxxxxxx": unable to pull quay.io/xxxxxxxx: unable to pull image: Error
  committing the finished image: error adding layer with blob "sha256:xxxxxx": Error processing tar file(exit status 1): there might not be enough IDs available in the namespace (requested 0:12 for /var/spool/mail): lchown /var/spool/mail: invalid argument
  

  • Error#2

  ERRO[0000] cannot find UID/GID for user yyyy: No subuid ranges found for user "yyyy" in /etc/subuid - check rootless mode in man pages. 
  WARN[0000] using rootless single mapping into the namespace. This might break some images. Check /etc/subuid and /etc/subgid for adding sub*ids 
  Error: Error committing the finished image: error adding layer with blob "sha256:xxxxxx
  
  Error processing tar file(exit status 1): there might not be enough IDs available in the namespace (requested 0:12 for /var/spool/mail): lchown /var/spool/mail: invalid argument
  

  • Error#3

  ERRO[0000] invalid internal status, try resetting the pause process with "podman system migrate": invalid configuration: the specified mapping 10000:65536 in "/etc/subuid" includes the user UID
