Low GPU usage on NVIDIA cards when screen locked
Issue
- When using the default options of the NVIDIA Xorg configuration, LCD does not go in to standby when DPMS is disabled, but the screen blanks with the intention of going in to standby mode
- Observed drop in CPU/GPU usage for a GPU intensive off-screen Application when the screen is locked
Environment
- Red Hat Enterprise Linux 8
- Nvidia proprietary graphics driver (pre-compiled)
- X server
