IP packets get fragmented when the ICMP payload size matches with the MTU

Network monitoring, e.g.
tcpdump, shows packet fragmentation when theICMPpayload packet size matches with the configuredMTU. -
If the
MTUis set to 1500, fragmentation is monitored when:IPv4is used and the packet size forpingis set higher than 1472.IPv6is used and the packet size forpingis set higher than 1452.
