mod_auth_openidc with SSL terminating proxy in front generates incorrect https redirect to our Apache http port number

Solution Verified - Updated -

Issue

  • We have an httpd/mod_auth_openidc configuration behind an SSL terminating proxy so httpd receives the request via http. We are receiving invalid redirects after authentication that try to send us to https with httpd's local http port number that received the request (https://hostname:80/) instead of the proper https port that should be used for the request to our front end proxy.

Environment

  • Red Hat Enterprise Linux 7
  • Apache httpd 2.4.6
  • mod_auth_openidc
