RHEL7 boots using Legacy GRUB without grub package

Issue

  • After upgrading from RHEL6 to RHEL7, the system still boots using Legacy GRUB.
  • However, Legacy GRUB packages are no longer installed and GRUB2 packages are installed on the system.
  • No /boot/default/grub, /boot/grub2/grub.cfg files on the system.

Environment

  • Red Hat Enterprise Linux 7
  • The system that uses BIOS
