Unable to start JWS 5.4 as a Windows service
Issue
- When attempting to start JWS, it fails but starts using
catalina run. commons-daemon log shows below:

Environment
- Red Hat JBoss Web Server 5.4
- Windows 2019
- Error when trying to start service:
C:\jws-5.4\tomcat\bin> net start tomcat9
The Apache Tomcat 9.0 Tomcat9 service is starting.
The Apache Tomcat 9.0 Tomcat9 service could not be started.
A service specific error occurred: 1.
- Windows Event log error:
The Apache Tomcat 9 Tomcat9 service terminated with service-specific error: Incorrect function
