After memory hot unplug via REST API the Defined Memory field in RHV-M displays different values from the free command in the RHEL guest

Solution Verified - Updated -

Issue

  • After repeated hot plug and hot unplug attempts via the REST API, the total memory value displayed by the free command on the guest goes out of sync with the Defined Memory value displayed in the RHV-M UI.

In the RHV-M UI, Compute -> Virtual Machines -> select VM > General tab displays:

    Defined Memory: 4096 MB

    RHEL guest displays:

    # free -m
total used free shared buff/cache available
    Mem: 28309 886 26929 10 492 26399

Both memory values should be the same.
