Why is ipcalc not available for %pre kickstart scripts during a kickstart installation of RHEL 8.4?

Issue

  • We use a kickstart profile that runs ipcalc in its %pre script.
  • The kickstart profile fails on RHEL 8.4:
ipcalc: command not found

Environment

  • Red Hat Enterprise Linux 8.4.
  • Automated RHEL installation using Kickstart.
  • %pre script section executing ipcalc.
