Red Hat SSO Operator fails with "you do not have permission to set the host field of the route"

Issue

  • When setting the field .spec.externalAccess.host the Operator tries to create an Openshift Route with a custom hostname. This fails with the following error message:

    message: 'Route.route.openshift.io "example" is invalid: spec.host: Forbidden: you do not have permission to set the host field of the route'

  • Red Hat SSO Operator 7.4.6
  • Red Hat OpenShift Container Platform (OCP) 4.7
