How to configure persistent static routes using nmstate on a RHV 4.4 host

Solution Verified - Updated -

Issue

  • Adding static routes with nmcli commands works but only while the host remains up and is not rebooted.
  • After adding static routes, RHV-M displays Out of Sync for the network because the definition of the interface on the host differs from the definitions stored by the Manager.
  • When Sync All Networks is run on RHV-M or the host is rebooted, the static routes are removed automatically.
  • How do you make static routes persistent on RHV 4.4 hosts?

Environment

  • Red Hat Virtualization (RHV) 4.4
  • Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) 8 hosts
  • IPv4 and IPv6 networking
