ERRATA status shows warning messages in the All Hosts page but zero installable updates in the Content Hosts display.
Environment
- Red Hat Satellite 6
Issue
- Discrepancy between
Content Hosts
andAll Hosts
display for the ERRATA updates status. - Shows warning messages in the
All Hosts
for the ERRATA status asSecurity errata applicable
Resolution
-
Firstly confirm that the host is connected with the
Default Organization View
Library Environment
or anyContent-view
.Satellite GUI >> Hosts >> Content Hosts >> Select Host >> `Content View` Satellite GUI >> Hosts >> Content Hosts >> Select Host >> `Lifecycle Environment`
-
If the host is connected with any
Content-View
, then check the latest publish + promote version in thecontent-view
.Satellite GUI >> Content >> Content-View >> Select CV >> Version
-
If the
content-view
is not recently publish + promote, then the latest available ERRATA is not yet available for the clients. Hence we need
to publish + promote a new version in thecontent-view
to add the latest ERRATA updates.Satellite GUI >> Content >> Content-views >> Select CV >> Publish a new version Satellite GUI >> Content >> Content-views >> Select CV >> Promote to `Lifecycle Environment`
-
This is an expected result as new
ERRATA
update gets available with the latest repositories sync but not yet installable on the clients due to Content-view version and must be consider as WARNING messages to notify as the newSecurity errata applicable
on the clients.
Root Cause
- Many
ERRATA
updates are available for the clients but not yet installable due to the content-view version lock down. Hence we need to publish + promote a new version to make the available ERRATA updates added in thecontent-view
latest version. therefore consider the ERRATA status:Security errata applicable
as a warning message until you apply the updates on the clients.
Diagnostic Steps
-
In the Content hosts, it shows Zero installable
ERRATA
updates.Satellite GUI >> Hosts >> Content Hosts >> Installable updates
-
In
All Hosts
, it shows warning messages for the hosts.Satellite GUI >> Hosts >> All Hosts >> Select Hosts >> Details Properties >> Errata status
