Kdump fails with NFS dump target on Intel I350 network adapter

Issue

When performing a kdump over a Intel I350 ethernet device in a RHEL 7.7 environment there might be a delay between the device being set up and the actual link detection that exceeds the dracut carrier timeout (default value is 5 seconds) . It will cause dracut-initqueue to fail with the following message:

No carrier detected on interface eno1

This will make kdump fail afterwards, as the IP settings will not be loaded to the interface.

  • Altos Computing Inc. Altos Computing Inc. BrainSphere(TM) R685 F5
  • I350 Gigabit Network Connection
