Issue

  • kdump fails to generate vmcore with SysRq on servers installed with LEGACY BIOS and having vga controller as Matrox MGA G200e (rev 42)
  • Serial console does not show anything when SysRq is triggered and system directly resets.
  • Kdump kernel failed to boot, but just reset to firmware to reboot system. And nothing is printed out.

Environment

  • RHEL7.5 and above
  • RHEL8
  • Matrox MGA G200e VGA controller.
