Why is the message 'Stale file handle' showing up in Gluster client logs?

In the client logs of a native Gluster mount, at
/var/log/glusterfs/mount-point.log, the following messages are showing up:[2018-08-02 12:33:04.999148] W [fuse-bridge.c:471:fuse_entry_cbk] 0-glusterfs-fuse: 51314352: LOOKUP() /test-path/test-file => -1 (Stale file handle) -
Why are these messages seen? Are they concerning?
