Apache Tomcat No Longer Available on RHEL 8.x Distributions

Updated -

Overview

Starting with version 8.0, Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) no longer provides any version of the Apache Tomcat JAVA web server/servlet as part of the RHEL distribution.

Red Hat's JBoss Web Server (JWS) product is Red Hat's officially supported version of Tomcat. Red Hat JBoss Web Server makes the Tomcat servlet engine available for Red Hat Enterprise Linux 6, 7 and 8.

Options

Customers who require the Red Hat version of Apache Tomcat, the JBoss Web Server, for RHEL 8.0-8.7 or RHEL 9.0-9.1 must obtain a subscription to JBoss Web Server or Red Hat Runtimes. Please contact Red Hat Sales for more information. Tomcat packages are available again directly through RHEL for RHEL 8.8+ and RHEL 9.2+.
