Yum update failed with 'HTTP Error 404: Not Found' for a system subscribed to custom channel

Issue

  • When running yum update or yum install x on a system which is subscribed to a custom channel on an RHN Satellite, it fails with the following error:

    ---> Downloading header for pcsc-lite-libs to pack into transaction set.
Error: failed to retrieve getPackage/pcsc-lite-libs-1.4.4-4.el5_5.i386.rpm from channel_name
error was [Errno 14] HTTP Error 404: Not Found
