Can I reduce the expected delay of failover when adding fence_kdump configuration?

Solution Verified - Updated -

Issue

  • I want to add fence_kdump resource to the cluster to get vmcore when kernel panic occurs. But I am worried that the time required for failover will increase because of fence_kdump in other fencing event.
  • Is there any way to reduce the delay of failover when fence_kdump is configured in cluster?
  • Even though setting 30s timeout value in fence_kdump it still taking 60sec for timeout ( It is trying 2 times )

    Mar 3 14:53:15" fence_kdump listen for message
    Mar 3 14:53:45 Node1" fence_kdump timeout after 30 seconds
Mar 3 14:53:46" fence_kdump again started listening for message
Mar 3 14:54:16" it timed out with following message
    Mar 3 14:54:16 Node1 pacemaker-fenced[1925]: warning: fence_kdump_off_2[2901] timed out after 30000ms

  • How to reduce fence_dump timeout to 30s

Environment

  • RHEL 7, 8 or 9 (with the High Availability Add-on)
  • fence_kdump
