Placing a JBoss instance 'out of service' when using F5 load balancer

Issue

We are using an F5 load balancer which points to 2 JBoss SOA-P instances and would like a way to tell the F5 that a particular JBoss instance is 'out of service'.

We had thought of having a JBoss endpoint which would indicate whether the instance was in service.

Environment

  • Red Hat JBoss SOA Platform 5.3.0
  • F5 Load balancer
