RHEV: Hypervisor with local storage domain is unable to be activated after a reboot

Solution Verified - Updated -

Issue

  • Hypervisor is using local storage domains and is unable to be activated after a reboot
  • Was following the steps in this knowledgebase article for what to do if there is a complete power outage
  • When trying to activate the storage first I get this error:
# action storagedomain qxskvmhyp2-Local activate --datacenter-identifier qxskvmhyp2-Local

error:
status: 400
reason: Bad Request
detail: Error connecting to the Storage Pool Manager service.
Possible reasons:
 - Storage Pool Manager service is in non-active state.
 - No Active Host in the Data Center.
  • And then I am unable to activate host:
# action host qxskvmhyp2 activate
status-state: complete

# show host qxskvmhyp2 | grep statu
status-detail : storage_domain_unreachable
status-state : non_operational
  • In /var/log/messages on the hypervisor I see this error:
Nov 13 18:46:41 localhost vdsm TaskManager.Task ERROR Task=`e1d60392-f5db-41df-b854-1a88bbd0edf7`::Unexpected error#012Traceback (most recent call last):#012  File "/usr/share/vdsm/storage/task.py", line 857, in _run#012  File "/usr/share/vdsm/logUtils.py", line 41, in wrapper#012  File "/usr/share/vdsm/storage/hsm.py", line 940, in connectStoragePool#012  File "/usr/share/vdsm/storage/hsm.py", line 987, in _connectStoragePool#012  File "/usr/share/vdsm/storage/sp.py", line 644, in connect#012  File "/usr/share/vdsm/storage/sp.py", line 1179, in __rebuild#012  File "/usr/share/vdsm/storage/sp.py", line 1529, in getMasterDomain#012StoragePoolMasterNotFound: Cannot find master domain: 'spUUID=5d0db620-01d4-4cf0-a819-ba9154ebb237, msdUUID=676ce677-42fb-4a7a-a3d4-882f63eb56a2'
