JAR created from Quarkus application by Maven plug-in is not self-contained

Solution Verified - Updated -

Issue

Building a JAR from a Quarkus Maven project, using the Quarkus Maven plug-in, like this:

$ mvn package

results in a JAR in target/ that is not self-contained: it has dependencies on many other JARs in directory target/lib/. The JAR cannot be used, except in the original filesystem location.

Environment

  • Red Hat Quarkus platform
    • 1.8.0.Final

Probably all versions of the Quarkus Maven plug-in are affected.
