"No protocol specified...RuntimeError: could not open display" error message while running system-config-* commands over XDMCP

Issue

  • I am connecting to XDMCP server configured on RHEL6 box from Windows system

  • I am using X server software on Windows system like for example Xming, Cygwin

  • Running system-config-users command (based on consolehelper) shows below error

No protocol specified
