Hosted Engine deployment with backup file fails while adding the host to manager

Solution Verified - Updated -

Issue

  • When redeploying Hosted Engine using a backup file and the host has been cleaned up with the ovirt-hosted-engine-cleanup tool, the deploy fails waiting for the host to become up.
  • While upgrading the environment to 4.4, the host which is used for the restore stuck in the non responsive status. The deployment logs show the below error.
2021-03-29 17:12:02,624+0400 ERROR otopi.ovirt_hosted_engine_setup.ansible_utils ansible_utils._process_output:109 fatal: [localhost]: FAILED! => {"changed": false, "msg": "Host is not up, please check logs, perhaps also on the engine machine"}

Environment

  • Red Hat Virtualization (RHV) 4.3.
  • Red Hat Virtualization (RHV) 4.4.
  • Self Hosted Engine
