MachineConfig stuck in updating mode if OpenShift Container Platform - Node has taints applied

Issue

  • When trying to add a new MachineConfig, I noticed that they are not applied on the nodes.
  • MachineConfigDaemon pod gets removed from a node if any kind of taint is set on the nodes.
  • Status of MachineConfigPool shows 0 machines in Ready Machine Count even though all OpenShift Nodes are up, running and working.
