What does the "process executable-name is using deprecated sysctl ..." message mean?
Issue
- Noticed the following statement, in the system messages file (by default -
/var/log/messages):
Sep 21 15:10:00 hostname kernel: process sample-executable-name is using deprecated sysctl (syscall) net.ipv6.neigh.eth1.base_reachable_time; Use net.ipv6.neigh.eth1.base_reachable_time_ms instead.
Environment
- Red Hat Enterprise Linux 7
- Red Hat Enterprise Linux 6
- Red Hat Enterprise Linux 5
