EAP 6.4 Natives failing while attempting to use the latest openssl from JBoss Core Services

Solution Verified - Updated -

Issue

We have an issue with the EAP 6.4 Natives (jbossas-jbossweb-native and mod_ssl) failing while attempting to use the latest OpenSSL (1.1.1c) from JBoss Core Services. This failure is due to ABI changes between OpenSSL 1.0.2 and 1.1.1.

The version of JBCS tested with EAP 6.4 was 2.4.23 (which included openssl 1.0.2h) according to the EAP 6.4 Supported Configurations Page. The JBCS 2.4.29 release contained openssl 1.0.2n, which would work, however JBCS 2.4.37 included openssl 1.1.1c, which does not work with EAP 6.4 natives.

Environment

  • Red Hat JBoss Enterprise Application Platform (EAP) 6.x
  • Red Hat JBoss Core Services (JBCS)
