How can a brick from an old volume be reused in a new volume with Red Hat Gluster Storage ?

Solution Verified - Updated -

Issue

  • Have removed volume from storage console and tried creating a new volume and used same brick for the deleted volume, Is there any solution to unmap brick from deleted volume?

  • When trying to reuse a brick in a new gluster volume, it will fail with a message,

~ Snippet from terminal:

# gluster volume add-brick test-vol gluster3:/bricks/app
/bricks/app or a prefix of it is already part of a volume

The stale brick can be either:

  • removed from a volume with the command gluster volume remove-brick ...
  • from an old, deleted volume (gluster volume delete ...)

Environment

  • Red Hat Storage 2.0
  • Red Hat Storage 2.1
  • Red Hat Gluster Storage 3.*
