/etc/hosts did not get populated on 3 new compute nodes - Unable to Live Migrate

Issue

  • /etc/hosts did not get populated on 3 new compute nodes - Unable to Live Migrate

  • We ran a stack update in February to add these 3 nodes. After a server crash yesterday, we attempted to migrate Vms out of the hypervisor, but all failed. We noticed /etc/hosts did not have any server entries except localhost entries, so we copied from another node, and was able to migrate the Vms Out.

  • Here is an example of /etc/hosts:

# HEADER: This file was autogenerated at 2019-09-06 06:39:41 -0400
# HEADER: by puppet. While it can still be managed manually, it
# HEADER: is definitely not recommended.
127.0.0.1       localhost       localhost.localdomain localhost4 localhost4.localdomain4
::1     localhost       localhost.localdomain localhost6 localhost6.localdomain6
