Issue

  • Unable to blacklist a disk using scsi:sas protocol blacklist entry in /etc/multipath.conf
  • The system is having a disk connected to LSI MegaRAID Tri-Mode SAS3508 controller and scsi:sas entry is added in blacklist section, but dm-multipath still creates multipath device for it:

    $ lspci |grep "58:00.0"
    58:00.0 RAID bus controller [0104]: Broadcom / LSI MegaRAID Tri-Mode SAS3508 [1000:0016] (rev 01)

    $ less /etc/multipath.conf
    [...]
    blacklist {
            protocol "(scsi:adt|scsi:sbp|scsi:sas)"
    }

    $ multipath -ll
    mpathb (36000c2981b91daec7ba1234123456789) dm-0 Lenovo  ,RAID 930-8i-2GB
    size=500G features='0' hwhandler='0' wp=rw
    `-+- policy='service-time 0' prio=1 status=enabled
     `- 2:0:1:0 sdb 8:16 active ready running

Environment

  • Red Hat Enterprise Linux 7
  • device-mapper-multipath-0.4.9-119.el7_5.1 or later
