Windows MSI installer of OpenJDK install JRE and not JDK

Solution Verified - Updated -

Issue

  • Executing the following command on a Windows server:
msiexec /i "java-1.8.0-openjdk-1.8.0.232-3.b09.redhat.windows.x86_64.msi" ADDLOCAL=jdk /qn

Results in an install of just the JRE. The JDK folder is not installed (and the setting appears uninstalled if the MSI is later run in interactive mode. No error appears in the install log).

Environment

  • OpenJDK 8
  • Windows
