Mounting or accessing NFS-shares cause a kernel panic with references to the lshook module

Issue

  • It is not possible anymore to mount any NFS shares after installing the latest updates. When mounting, a kernel panic occurs.
  • The Red Hat Enterprise Linux 5 machine keeps rebooting with a segfault roughly every hour. This started happening after updating the machine with the latest package updates.
  • System crashes during NFS mount

Environment

  • Red Hat Enterprise Linux 5.6 or later
  • Red Hat Enterprise Linux 6.2 or later
  • LinuxShield Anti-Virus (also called McAfee VirusScan Enterprise)
    • Loaded modules contain: linuxshield, lshook*
