  • After the upgrade of "alsa-lib" package to version "1.0.17-1.el5", saving of mixer settings fails during system halt or reboot with following error messages.
Saving mixer settings ALSA lib conf.c:1589:(snd_config_load1) _toplevel_:309:22:Unexpected char
alsactl: conf.c:1248: string_print: Assertion `0' failed.
/etc/rc6.d/S01reboot: line 17:  5455 Aborted      "$@"

Environment

  • Red Hat Enterprise Linux 5.9
  • alsa-lib-1.0.17-1.el5
  • Machines with the HDMI/DP port using "snd-hda-intel" driver.
