How do I test my Samba configuration for errors?

The testparm command can be used to check your /etc/samba/smb.conf file for errors. From a shell prompt type:

testparm /etc/samba/smb.conf

Where /etc/samba/smb.conf is the path to the samba configuration file you wish to test. A typical output would look like this:

[root]# testparm /etc/samba/smb.conf
Load smb...
