IP Addresses of RHUI 3 and 2 Servers in AWS
Note: For information about RHUI 4 host names and IP addressed, please see RHUI 4 Takes Over in AWS, Bringing New DNS Data.
AWS instances running RHEL communicate with RHUI 3 when yum retrieves repodata and packages. The host name of the RHUI 3 server that yum contacts depends on the AWS region the instance is in, and has the following format:
rhui3.REGION_ID.aws.ce.redhat.com
For example, in US East (N. Virginia), whose ID is us-east-1, the host name is rhui3.us-east-1.aws.ce.redhat.com.
However, if a 2.x version of the rh-amazon-rhui-client
package is installed, yum first contacts RHUI 2, where the host names are as follows:
- rhui2-cds01.REGION_ID.aws.ce.redhat.com
- rhui2-cds02.REGION_ID.aws.ce.redhat.com
Yum in then redirected to RHUI 3, and the RHUI 3 host name is used in future Yum operations.
The following table contains IP addresses for RHUI 3 servers in all regions.

These IP addresses are not expected to change. Lest there be a change, a script is provided with this article that AWS users can run to get up-to-date information. For the script to work, the AWS Command Line Interface must be installed and configured. Alternatively, it is possible to look up the current IP address of any RHUI 3 server using the host
, dig
, or nslookup
utility with the requested RHUI 3 server host name as an argument; for example:
$ host rhui3.us-east-1.aws.ce.redhat.com
The following table contains current and previously used IP addresses for RHUI 2 servers. The IP addresses changed when RHUI 2 was replaced with RHUI 3. Where there is N/A, there have never been any actual RHUI 2 Content Delivery servers, and yum has always been redirected to RHUI 3 when using rh-amazon-rhui-client
version 2.x.
