rpm --rebuilddb failed with DB_NOSERVER_HOME error, using rpmdb on remote host with RPM RPC configuration

Solution Unverified - Updated -

Issue

  • rpm --rebuilddb command failed with the following error.
error: db4 error(-30991) from dbenv->open: DB_NOSERVER_HOME: Home unrecognized at server
error: cannot open Packages index using db3 - (-30991)
  • In this environment, RPM RPC server was configured upon https://access.redhat.com/site/solutions/25240. So, /usr/lib/rpm/rpmdb_svc process is running on the server.
  • And, this problem occurred on the client side.
  • The rpm command for install, remove, and so on doesn't fail. It can communicate with the server without any problem.
