Remote execution yum check-update fails with exit status 100 in Red Hat Satellite 6

Solution Verified - Updated -

Issue

  • When Satellite 6 remotely executes the command yum check-update, and that command successfully finds a list of packages, yum exits with a return code of 100. This is interpreted as a failure, resulting in spurious error reports within Satellite. This does not happen when yum check-update finishes successfully but finds no updates, because it then exits with a return code of 0.

Environment

  • Red Hat Satellite 6
  • Red Hat Enterprise Linux
  • Yum
