Why does booting of rhcos-4.2.0-x86_64-installer.iso land into dracut shell?

Issue

  • Creating boot and master nodes on VMWare 6.7 using the rhcos-4.2.0-x86_64-installer.iso file from this link, constantly receive dracut-initqueue errors.
  • The rhcos-4.1.0-x86_64-installer.iso works fine.
  • The errors from /run/initramfs/rdsosreport.txt are as follows.
localhost coreos-installer[685]: cat: /tmp/selected_dev: No such file or directory
localhost coreos-installer[685]: Image URL is required, please provide the -b flag or coreos.inst.image_url on the kcmdline
localhost systemd[1]: coreos-installer.service: Main process exited, code=exited, status=1/FAILURE
localhost systemd[1]: coreos-installer.service: Failed with result 'exit-code'
localhost systemd[1]: coreos-installer.service: Triggering OnFailure= dependencies
