yum shows/returns "[Errno 4] IOError: [Errno ftp error] 550 Failed to change directory." when updating in RHEL5.

Issue

  • On the RHN Satellite server,or RHN yum update command fails with the following error:

    [root@server cache]# yum update
Loaded plugins: rhnplugin, security
ftp://ftp.redhat.com/pub/redhat/linux/beta/5Server/en/os/x86_64/Debuginfo/repodata/repomd.xml: [Errno 4] IOError: [Errno ftp error] 550 Failed to change directory.
Trying other mirror.
Error: Cannot retrieve repository metadata (repomd.xml) for repository: rhel-debuginfo-beta. Please verify its path and try again
