tg3 driver reporting "No interrupt was generated using MSI" on system boot

Issue

  • The Network interfaces did not create an interrupt queue using MSI on system boot.
  • The following messages were logged:
kernel: tg3 0000:46:04.0: eth2: No interrupt was generated using MSI. Switching to INTx mode. Please report this failure to the PCI maintainer and include system chipset information

Environment

  • Red Hat Enterprise Linux 5.8
  • kernel version 2.6.18-308
