Clustered service with nfsexport or nfsserver but without nfsclient cannot be stopped despite having force_unmount set in RHEL 6

Issue

  • fs resource in cluster service with nfsexport fails to stop
  • Despite having fource_unmount set to 1 a filesystem cannot be unmounted to allow a service to fail over.

Environment

  • Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) 6 with the High Availability Add On
  • Cluster service in /etc/cluster/cluster.conf:
    • Contains fs or clusterfs resource
    • Contains nfsexport or nfsserver
    • No nfsclient resource
    • Entry for this file system in /etc/exports
    • If any of the above does not match this environment, see this solution
