firewalld reports: Error: INVALID_TABLE: 'broute' not in '['filter', 'nat']'

Solution Verified - Updated -

Issue

  • After updating a system to RHEL 7.7 and firewalld-0.6.3-2.el7, broute table rules no long work.

    # firewall-cmd --direct --add-rule eb broute BROUTING 0 -i eth0 -j redirect --redirect-target DROP
    Error: INVALID_TABLE: 'broute' not in '['filter', 'nat']'
    
  • We have old file eptables save in RHEL 6 and we want to restore in ebtable for redhat 8. This application can't load the configuration. The error is with the broute table
  • broute table missing in RHEL 8

Environment

  • Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) 7.7
  • firewalld-0.6.3-2.el7
  • Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) 8
  • Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) 9.3 and below
