Why doesn't rgmanager treat virtual machines as services ?

Solution Verified - Updated -

Issue

  • BUG RHEL6 RHCS: clusvcadm on service names is not consistent
  • Is there a reason why services that are non-VM can be named under clusvcadm without the "service:" prefix but for VMs it insists it requires the "vm:" prefix?
  • It's just annoying! Surely if it's a service it should be treated as a service.
  • Also, there is no mention of this in the documentation at all, neither in Cluster Administration guide or clusvcadm man page.
  • When moving services around a cluster, one can refer to services by just service names, except for virtual machines, which must have the vm: prefix.
