Message "Failed unmounting /var" is seen on the console when shutting down or rebooting the system

Issue

  • When shutting down or rebooting the system, the following messages can be seen on the console

    [FAILED] Failed unmounting /var.
    ...
    [<TIMESTAMP>] [1683]: Remounting '/var' read-only in with options 'seclabel,attr2,inode64,noquota'.
    [<TIMESTAMP>] [1684]: Unmounting '/var'.
    [<TIMESTAMP>] [1684]: Failed to unmount /var: Device or resource busy
