Is it possible to exclude some directories from a managed autofs map?
Issue
Is it possible to configure automount in a way to not manage a sub directory within a previously defined automount managed directory?
A client's software expects to be able to mount a directory under /home
when it starts or unmount it when it stops. In Solaris the -null
map allowed this to be achieved.
A description of when this can be useful:
- autofs is used to mount all home directories (under
/home
) - a 3rd party application wants to mount a directory under
/home
- a mount failure will render a problem in the application
- the application 'manually' mounts the directory, autofs is not supported
- the application will unmount after it is done
Environment
- Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) 6.3
- autofs
