[RHEV] Why are we unable to shutdown the VM through RHEV Web UI?

Solution In Progress - Updated -

Issue

  • RHEV is configured to use the NetApp storage. This NetApp storage is a storage cluster which does failover when one of the storage controllers is down or put to maintenance.
  • Maintenance was carried out in the storage environment without putting the storage domain to Maintenance mode on RHEV-M.
  • VMs that were running during this time went to paused state.
  • Two of the VMs when started from Paused state went into hung state.
  • VMs came back up after some time but shutting them down using RHEVM Web UI fails.
  • However, VM shuts down automatically some time later without any intervention from the Administrator.
  • We are not able to perform any task on one VM through RHEV manager, while all others VMs are working fine. even not able to do force shutdown VM.

Environment

  • Red Hat Enterprise Virtualization 3.5
