Cannot mount CIFS DFS share in RHEL 6, failed with return code = -6

Issue

  • Cannot mount CIFS DFS share which functions on other Red Hat Enterprise Linux servers.
  • The following messages appear in /var/log/messages after attempting the mount.
Jul 17 14:19:02 hatsune-example cifs.upcall: keyctl_describe_alloc failed: Invalid argument
Jul 17 14:19:02 hatsune-example kernel: CIFS VFS: cifs_mount failed w/return code = -6
  • The mount command outputs the following error:
mount error(6): No such device or address
