Samba stops authentication and error message "tdb_oob lbeyond eof" and "key length too large" appears on log files

Solution Verified - Updated -

Issue

  • Samba/winbind is failing to authenticate users on a Windows domain after some time and the following messages are logged:
lib/util_tdb.c:385(tdb_log)
  tdb(/var/lib/samba/printing/AATB.tdb): tdb_oob len 27816 beyond eof at 24064
winbindd/winbindd_cache.c:3964(cache_traverse_validate_fn)
  cache_traverse_validate_fn: key length too large: (1985) > (1024)
smbd/server.c:240(cleanup_timeout_fn)
Cleaning up brl and lock database after unclean shutdown

After restart samba service all authentications worked but after some time the problem appears once again and the error message above too.
